Earrings - Herkimer Diamond and Sterling Silver Earrings
Herkimer Diamonds are not actual diamonds but are a highly prized mineral in the Quartz crystal family. They are principally found in nature in Herkimer County, New York as small, short, and stubby “double-terminated” crystals (meaning it has two naturally forming faceted/pointed ends as opposed to man-made faceted ends). Considered extremely strong crystals, it is their rock matrix that gives them their strength; for this reason Herkimer crystals are called “diamonds” because they are strong and have fantastic clarity, just like a diamond. Even though most occur clear and colourless, Herkimer can also contain inclusions, air bubbles, or even black carbon deposits. As in nature, each one is unique! In the world of crystal lovers, the Herkimer is considered the most powerful of all Quartz crystals. It is believed in the meta-physical world that because they have naturally faceted points on each end, they have the ability to transmit energy in both directions. The double terminated quartz points can absorb, amplify and emit that energy from both ends at the same time, making them a great stone for cleansing and balancing the Chakras.
These earrings have two gorgeous Herkimer Diamonds in their natural form, dangling from an arch shaped earwire. The earwires are made from Sterling Silver wire which is shaped and hammered for texture, and then tumble hardened to retain it’s shape. These earrings look great worn with casual wear, yet the “diamonds” give them the element of elegance, making them the perfect accessory for any evening engagement. One thing is for sure, whatever you wear them with, they certainly will attract attention!
